I am here because I am financially committed to spend ~$6/month on a virtual machine running in Linode. Because I need someplace other than paper to write something. Because I quit Facebook and deleted all of my content about a week after it was announced that they sold information to law enforcement about some girl who wanted to get an abortion in the backwards South of the USA. Because Twitter (if it's somehow still a thing when you read this) is a cesspool of human filth and greed and aggression and spiritual weakness. Because there's really no place else for me to go.

But why are you here and how did you even find this? I guess I'll never know because I didn't enable comments and I didn't enable email so you've got no obvious method to contact me. Which is just fine. When's the last time anybody ever learned anthing after reading the first 500 comments in a YouTube post? Hardly ever. I bet that it never happens. So why try?

I am here because I need to tell my story. I need to write this even though the most obvious outcome is that I am the only one, no matter if the Internet Archive records this or not, who ever bothers to even read this. Most likely this is just for me. Maybe my kids will find it. Maybe their kids will find it. Or maybe the whole world burns to the ground the day after tomorrow.

By most people's standards, I've had a great life. But I am getting old. Time is running out. There are medical issues that I don't wish to discuss yet. The window for everything is closing. In short time, this might be all that I have left.

So, hello, whoever you are. If you are from the future, I hope that means we somehow made it through the climate crisis. If you are robot, great! Congratulations! I am Team Robot. I am so glad you won. I hope you do a better job of running the place than we did. If you are pure energy, I am happy to hear we transcended matter. Welcome. Talk again soon.
